That’s a wrap for the 2021-2022 Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program’s season.
The All-State Banquet and Fun Shoot celebrated the end of a successful shooting sports season in Tennessee.
Third largest turnout by any state at nationals.
This year, more than 1600 athletes competed in Tennessee and just under 300 made the journey up to nationals in Ohio — the third largest turnout by any state.
Tennessee athletes brought back 62 national titles, with 17 of these being first-place titles.
SCTP athletes were not the only ones putting up impressive numbers this year.
Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program would not exist without the dedication of volunteer coaches. This past season, coaches logged well over 2,000 volunteer hours with their teams.
Always looking to grow
“We’re lucky to have passionate and generous coaches who donate their time to teach these kids,” said JW Worthen, director of programs for Tennessee Wildlife Federation. “They are the reason why SCTP continues to grow year after year.”
The number of coaches and team volunteers nearly doubled from last season to almost 450 across the state this year. Furthermore, two additional teams were founded raising the state total to 85 teams.
The SCTP program strives to expand each season to increase the opportunities for Tennessee youth to discover the sport of clay target shooting.
