Athletes Bring Their A-Game to State Championships

Jul 14, 2020

Tennessee SCTP Athlete ready to compete at state championships.
Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Tennessee SCTP State Championships looked a little different than in years past but the competition was as exciting as ever.

Making Adjustments

To ensure the health and safety of participants, Tennessee Wildlife Federation took a number of precautions, including adjusting the competition format, encouraging participants to wear masks, and reducing group gatherings. Tennessee SCTP also shortened the competition to four days to minimize exposure among participants and hosted virtual safety briefings before the event.

“We’re so thankful to the athletes, parents, coaches, and volunteers for being flexible and adapting to the new safety measures. We know how important this competition is to the community, but our focus has and will always be safety first.”

Andrew Peercy, Tennessee SCTP Manager

Student-athletes, from middle school to college, competed in three shotgun shooting sports disciplines: trap, skeet, and sporting clays.

“Even with an adjusted competition format, athletes from all corners of the state brought their A-game to the Nashville Gun Club this year,” said Andrew.
