Scholastic All-State Banquet Recognizes Best of the Best

August 13, 2018/in News, Tennessee SCTP /by Kate Hill

On Saturday, August 11, the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) named 113 scholastic all-state athletes and presented four with scholarships at the annual Tennessee SCTP Scholastic All-State and Scholarship Banquet and Fun Shoot. The event was presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors and hosted by the Montgomery County Shooting Complex. Mallards of Huntingdon provided the luncheon.

To be named to the scholastic all-state rolls, Tennessee SCTP athletes must show high achievement in the classroom and on the field. Athletes must maintain an academic average of 92 percent or higher for the full academic year as well as post a minimum average score at regional and state competitions. Those scores vary by class and shooting discipline.

Every Tennessee SCTP region was well represented by the scholastic all-state athletes.

Additionally, four athletes were awarded academic scholarships. Brooklyn Driver of Macon County Tigers, Lafayette; Heather Argue of Spring Hill Clay Target Team, Columbia; and Drake Fenwick of Bartlett Trap Team, Millington were all awarded the Tennessee SCTP scholarship. Gray Gardner of Henry County No Fly Zone, Paris, won the Robert E. Tipton Memorial Scholarship. Awards ranged from $750 to $1000.

Before to the awards presentation got underway, 73 attendees participated in the fun shoot, a light-hearted competition to end the season.
