To stop Asian carp from decimating our fisheries and local economies, the Federation has been organizing a regional effort to combat invasive carp for years. The Federation coordinated a multi-state response that brought together experts and other conservation organizations from surrounding states to share strategies and solutions that work to fight carp in our waters.
To address an invasion of this scale, we need funding.
That’s why the Federation has worked to secure a number of funding initiatives to fight carp. Last year, the Federation led the effort that increased federal funding to combat Asian carp to $25 million and, for the first time, opened those funds to Tennessee. That money is being allocated by federal agencies now.
But there’s more work to be done.
