Congratulations 2019 Calendar Contest Winners!

October 5, 2018/in News /by Kate Hill

People’s Choice winner, Barred Owl by Jean Owens

The 2019 Tennessee Wildlife Federation calendar contest was a success! Tennessee wildlife and landscapes were showcased in more than 4,500 submitted images, and voters whittled down the People’s Choice from 55 images to one winning shot!

In August, 671 photographers submitted photographs highlighting Tennessee wildlife and great outdoors.

Judges reviewed each photograph for originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. They selected the cover image, monthly feature photographs and honorable mention images for the calendar.

From the original submissions, 55 photographs were selected to compete for the People’s Choice Award. Those images were featured on the Federation’s website and open for voting. More than 19,000 votes were cast, and the people have spoken!

Tennessee Wildlife Federation is excited to announce our People’s Choice Award winner:

Barred Owl submitted by Jean Owens of Paris, Tenn.

The image was taken in Camden and features a barred owl in a tree. Jean will receive a calendar and a $100 Academy Sports + Outdoors gift card.

This year, People’s Choice voters who submitted their information were entered to win a Federation swag package. Those prize winners are April Lane and Phyllis Swindell.
